Seeing the Opera House and harbour bridge from every angle was amazing, but it was actually the moments that didn’t make it into the photos that were some of the most valuable- Cooking and eating together at my aunt’s house, usually 9 of us together at the dinner table. My 8 year old playing with their dog Chewbarka (chewy for short). Walking to the park and playing football with my sons everyday under the vast Australian sky (watch out haaland I’ll catch up soon). Car-aoke with my cousin on long drives to the blue mountains. Her husband was distraught at my loud attempts to sing Queen songs. Snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef! A bucket list item ticked.
Gratitude for all this and so much more…love, connection, family, friends…❤️

It’s not the glamorous part of being a dancer, but it’s the reality of dancing- practise, sweat, details. After my April performance in Kolkata, @biswas_sharmila_ suggested I meet DSV Sastry in Hyderabad. And I’m so glad I did! The past few days of detailing, discussion, listening to his music and stories of Kuchipudi have been precious. Some time away from performances and responsibilities to focus on mindful movements and new ideas.

Kolkata moments…although I’ve never lived in Bengal, the Bengali in me has some strong sentiments towards this place…and the Kolkata show was special!
